Under the new rules, creators are encouraged to develop more distinctive character designs and avoid using highly similar faces across different dramas. Characters within the same show should also be clearly distinguishable. Hongguo said it will launch a campaign targeting frequently reused AI faces, homogenized content and improper use of materials, while asking creators to review and revise problematic works. Separately, Douyin’s Short Drama Creator Center launched a pre-screening tool for AI-drama copyright holders and production teams on Aug. 3.
